a hidden gem in southwest france

Maison de Qui is a quiet retreat space and countryside chambres d'hôtes (bed & breakfast) where creativity flows and slow living takes root. This lakeview home serves as a peaceful getaway for writers, artists, travelers, and retreat groups who want time and room to breathe. Here, staying in rural France feels simple and comforting, with an atmosphere that welcomes rest, connection, and ease.

This home shaped by generations, artistry, and the textures of regional life. It feels like a living, breathing gallery, with every room carrying a spirit of creativity and the touch of those who have passed through. Those visiting on their own enjoy a classic chambres d’hôtes experience with overnight accommodations and breakfast served daily. During retreats, the house becomes a creative sanctuary with enough nooks for privacy and enough shared space to bring ideas to life.

Guests write, read, or paint with inspiration drawn from the Pyrenees Mountrains just beyond the window. The solarium offers a bright place to unwind, fireside sofas hold long conversations, and sunlit corners overlook the rushing Garonne River for moments of quiet reflection. Outdoors, the wrap-around terrace opens to panoramic mountain air. Guests stretch with yoga mats, grill in the open-air kitchen, or settle into garden paths and terrace seating for rituals like coffee at sunrise or a glass of wine before dusk.

Beyond the house, Montréjeau reveals the character of southwest France. The village sits where valleys meet peaks, at the gateway to the Pyrenees and the spiritual crossroads of Occitanie. You will find romanesque basilicas, a centuries-old Monday market, and quiet streets that come alive when you least expect. Walk to the boulangerie (French bakery), hike into the Pyrenees, or catch a train to thrift shop Toulouse, make a pilgrimage to Lordes or catch some theater in Pau. Stay rooted in place or roam—we’re your basecamp either way.

“My experience was absolutely unforgettable. The location of the chateau is situated between the town and the river, and surrounded in all directions by a striking natural landscape. The way the property is laid out, guests are able to find their privacy. They can tuck behind the walnut tree in the backyard, take a nap in the hammock overlooking the Pyrenees Mountains, go for one of the many nature walks nearby, or just stay inside one of the uniquely designed and relaxing guest bedrooms. Shannon and Justin have placed much care into each detail of this gorgeous and one-of-a-kind home. Each room has a hand made sign tied to its door, and a little care package with locally made soap and chocolates inside. Anything we needed, the hosts made sure to try and accommodate. We were treated to local patisserie French breakfast pastries each morning, french wines in the evening, and feasted cheeses and meats made in the region at all hours of the day. When it came to exploring what the region had to offer, clearly time was spent discovering local unique excursions to share with guests- each outing felt like a local secret we were discovering. This land, this region of France, these hosts, and this home have lots of rich unearthing to provide. It's truly thrilling and I can't wait to go back. What a deeply immersive and authentic trip! I can't think of a better way to experience France for the first time! Thank you, thank you!”
